Saw my rheumatologist today and complained about generally
hurting, tendon inflammation etc.

He took me off mobic and gave me relafin.

Any experiences or cautions?

TIA

It's another NSAID. Maybe different structure than Mobic (I'm almost
sure) but with the same warnings on stomach bleeding, etc.

I took it for a while last spring/summer after they pulled my beloved Bextra
from the market. It worked well for me for about 6 weeks, then began to
cause havoc in my stomach. Gas, bloating, nausea. Because I'd been on it 6
weeks, I kept thinking I had some bug and it took me a while to associate it
with relafen. The last day I took the relafen, I ended up sleeping on the
living room couch out of consideration for my husband as the gas was so bad.
Got much better once I stopped the relafen of course.

YMMV though. Just be aware it may cause stomach trouble at any time so you
don't waste weeks thinking it's a bug as I did. It worked well as an NSAID
for me until the side effects began.

I was on Relafen for a while-maybe about a month, and then it stopped
working for me.
This is not unusual for me where NSAIDS are concerned.
I hope that it works for you, Louise,

Like the others said, just another nsaid.
Mobic is similar to the Cox2 inhibitors but not classified as such.
All nsaids have the same warning regarding your stomach, etc.
Arthrotec is one to try if you do have stomach problems. It's a combo of
diclofenac and misoprostol.
Diclofenac works by reducing substances that cause inflammation and pain in
the body.
Misoprostol replaces protective substances in your stomach that are
inhibited by nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) and aspirin.

You can take misoprostol alone also. I take Protonix or Nexium and if the
acid is really bad, use Zantac 150mg. Then the green lizard cocktail if
things are really nasty.
