From: Jessica on 2 Oct 2008 10:47 I'm not sure that this has anything to do with my Hashimoto's, but I'm going to ask anyway. I've been allergic to peanuts since I was about 11 years old. Even the smell of them gives me a migraine. The other day though, I was sitting in class next to someone who was eating peanut M&M's and the smell didn't bother me at all. My meds have been working to regulate my thyroid (thank G-d!), so I was thinking that maybe the whole peanut allergy was related to my Hashimoto's. Then again, I am also pregnant, and thought that maybe that also had something to do with it. Anyone heard of any correlation between food allergies and thyroid disease?

There seem to be definite connections between allergies and hypoT. However, I am not aware of anything *specific* to peanuts. It sounds quite feasible to me (hey - what do I know?) that correcting the underlying thyroid problems could well reduce the likelihood of an allergic reaction. -- Rod Hypothyroidism is a seriously debilitating condition with an insidious onset. Although common it frequently goes undiagnosed. <www.thyromind.info> <www.thyroiduk.org> <www.altsupportthyroid.org>

Yes, I have heard of the link between allergies and Hashimoto's. I've developed many food allergies in the last while, and I hope treatment with Thyroid medication will alleviate some of them eventually. (Hey, we can hope). : ) Here's a link from the stopthethryoidmadness website from the symptoms page. Down near the bottom it mentions allergies; also allergies are linked to adrenal problems. http://www.stopthethyroidmadness.com/long-and-pathetic/ Dee "Jessica" <Jessica.R.Adler(a)gmail.com> wrote in message news:5da80e73-1395-4520-8399-a0041a3f5a11(a)h2g2000hsg.googlegroups.com... > I'm not sure that this has anything to do with my Hashimoto's, but I'm > going to ask anyway.
