From: Mitch@this_is_not_a_real_address.com on 6 Jul 2006 18:58 Well, Day 2 of counting calories. What's a reuben sandwich (with corned beef, not turkey)? About 750 calories. Gross calories, too. I won't do that again. Luckily, I added up the calories first, and that helped me eat only half a sandwich. But the fat content is just nasty. I can't believe I used to eat like that all the time. Oh, well. I'm still on a calorie deficit for today, so that's good.

You'll be amazed as you go along at what you used to consume calorie-wise. I was easily downing 7000-10000cal a day before I started my WOE/WOL. Still blows my mind that a large peanut butter/peanut butter cup concrete shake from Culver's is around 3000/3500cal. I used to down one of those and half of my wife's in one sitting. needless to say I do not go to Culver's anymore - and lo and behold I am still alive... One milestone I treasure is being able to go to a local mexican restaurant and SHARE a meal with my wife... >One milestone I treasure is being able to go to a local mexican restaurant >and SHARE a meal with my wife... Yeah, my wife and I now share the Asian chicken salad at Applebee's. I'm sold on this calorie counting thing. I'm not going to go crazy on it long term, but it definitely allowed me to see where calories are creeping in and causing me to plateau. Even after that nasty meal last night, I ended up with about a 500 calorie deficit, which means I lost about 1/10th of a pound yesterday. If i wasn't counting, I probably would have had a 400-500 calorie evening snack and a beer, and broke even. I know I'll be able to shed that last 8 pounds now. 230/178/170 |
