I have been suffering from constant rectal pain for about 6 months now.
It started right after I had a bladder infection, so I assumed the two
were related and a urologist diagnosed me with a prostate infection.

Long story short, none of his treatments or drugs worked, so he
suggested I go to a GI doctor. The GI doctor said that I had IBS and
prescribed me Nortriptyline (a tricyclic antidepressant). Has anyone
else had this drug prescribed for IBS-C? Did it help and if so, about
how long did it take?

I have tried 25mg of Nortriptyline for my IBS (mostly constipated and upper
right abdominal pain).

I didn't have much success. I was on Nortriptyline for 8 weeks.

email if you want for info.
