Since she is eating more fruits and vegetables than ever, the flax is overkill. -- See my webpage: http://mysite.verizon.net/juliebove/index.htm
From: Judy Haight on 9 Aug 2005 07:30 Just curious if you've tried sunbutter? It's made from sun flower seeds and has a taste remarkably similar to peanut butter. Looks like peanut butter too. We've been using here at home. Pricey to buy, but can be made in a few minutes in a food processor or blender from hulled sunflower seeds. When it comes time to go back to school, it's one of those things kids can use to make their lunch look like everybody else's so they don't feel out of place. From: Judy Haight on 9 Aug 2005 07:58 Julie, You had mentioned not finding mayo without egg & soy. I remembered asking about that a while back, not for my own allergies but for someone else's. betty_K was kind enough to post this Mock Mayonnaise recipe for me. In her post she said just to put everything in the blender and it comes out with a mayo-like consistency. I haven't tried it yet. Hope this helps your situation. BTW, here at home we sometimes add ranch dressing mix just to mayo as I have dairy issues. Mock Mayonnaise 1/2 (I use 1)tsp. salt !/4 tsp. dry mustard (I omit) dash paprika(I also omit) I tbsp. vinegar 1 cup canola oil 1 cup water 2 tsp arrowroot 1 tsp. xanthan gum 1 tbsp. lemon juice dash onion powder(I omit) (other spices as you want) On Tue, 09 Aug 2005 08:04:43 GMT, "Julie Bove" <julienospambove(a)verizon.net> wrote: > >I should clarify. Sunflower seeds are something she is iffy about. Sometimes she likes them, sometimes she says they are yucky. I would suspect it isn't very high in protein. That's my main concern. Getting enough protein in her meals. She's not a big meat eater. -- See my webpage: http://mysite.verizon.net/juliebove/index.htm

I will try that. I did find a mayo recipe and also one for a mock Ranch Dressing in one of my cookbooks but I hadn't tried them since they made such a large amount and it indicated that they kept only for about a week. I am just tired of wasting money and time on things that do not work. I made donut holes last night from a mix and they were a joke! The outside tasted really good, but they were totally raw inside. And I couldn't have cooked them any longer because they were beginning to burn. Makes me feel inept because I'm normally a really good cook and an excellent baker! I think there is something wrong with this particular brand though. This is the same brand of bread mix I tried that left me with a loaf that was almost burned outside and raw inside. -- See my webpage: http://mysite.verizon.net/juliebove/index.htm |
