Boise Police detectives arrested Mary Guinard at her Meridian home Monday afternoon. She's accused of embezzling approximately $74,000 from her employer, the Susan G. Komen for the Cure, Boise Affiliate. Until recently, Guinard was the Foundation's Executive Director. Detectives say evidence shows Guinard was employed by the foundation when the crimes occurred. Boise Police received a report early this morning, from members of the Foundation's Board of Directors. The Foundation provided detectives with evidence reportedly uncovered during internal bookkeeping that showed multiple instances of possible misappropriation of checks beginning in June of this year. Monday afternoon local Susan G. Komen officials released the following statement: "The Boise Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure has terminated the employment of executive director, Mary Guinard. Linda McGraw, president of the Komen Boise Affiliate board of directors has assumed leadership as interim executive director." "This matter is now in the hands of the Boise Police Department and we are cooperating with them to resolve the matter." "The Komen Boise Affiliate remains committed to southwest and central Idaho, the volunteers, the donors and the sponsors that have helped Komen make a difference in the world of breast cancer. We will continue to be a leader in this important cause." ___ Blue Wave/QWK v2.12
