From: paulfoel on 31 Mar 2008 05:18 Background: First diagnosed with depression/anxiety about 12 years ago. Tried Prozac for a few months - useless. Was then on Paroxetine (Paxil/Seroxat) for about 11 years. At the time, most of my depression etc. was due to work. I seemed to have a problem with new situations etc, being in work. Worked 'OK' but not great and still had some really bad spells. Had a particularly bad spell about a year ago and was off work for a few months. Doc referred me to a Pdoc who made some recommendations - try remeron first then effexor. So, Doc moved me off Paxil to Remeron. Seemed OK at first. Went back to work and was OK. After a few months things werent great again and I seemed back to square one. Also, I had great difficulty concentrating etc. So, about 10 weeks ago I moved to effexor. Seemed OK at first and doc gradually increased doses to 225Mg. I still had panic/anxiety but only in the afternoons in work (weird). After a few weeks this went away which was great news. Trouble is now I seem to have found something else to worry about. I'm absolutely paranoid etc that my wife is going to leave me. Its making me really upset (even though theres no basis for truth in it). These feelings seem to have build up since I started the Effexor. So, what do I do now? Stick with the effexor or a possibly higher dose? Other than that, I suppose my GP is going to refer me back to the pdoc which is going to take months. Any idea what the next med to try would be? Not sure if it is the effexor thats making me this way. But things certainly feel weird in my head at the mo. I guess it could be the depression but I suppose this means the effexor isnt doing too great for me in that case. What to do?
