I am currently finishing downloading the Time Life series of
video files of Lost Civilisations as well as some other ones...

That covers ancient China, Tibet, Agean, Mesopotamia, Greece, Roman,
Maya, Inca, Egyptian and Africa.

I watched a bit of the Maya one, which does highlight how barbaric they
actually were with their blood sacrifices - the Incas are noted for the
same, making what Hitler did, seem quite normal.
I think the case may be, that they started off being peaceful? and they
degnerated into human sacrifices, etc - though, to confirm this may be
somewhat difficult?

When you are locked into a society that is corrupt and insane, how do you
survive within it?

We don't know all that much about different civilisations that have
lived and died on this planet, and it would be good to know what exactly
did happen? to them...

Popular opinion would have it,that, we know all there is to know about them,
and it is nothing fantastic at all. Just mankind being it's corrupt moral
self, dominating one race or tribe over another and wiping each other out
eventually.
I don't think that is the whole and true story.

Indeed, considering the subject line of the post!

Though it is wisdom to ("really") know, there is no security in
knowledge, either.

It is interesting to really know things.
eg. I've downloaded the History Channel series about secret aircraft
during WWII. There's about 5 programs which show the various secret
jet projects that were underway, showing Russian, Japanese, German and
Allied jetplane developments. The Germans were far ahead, about to mass
produce their second generation jetfighters when the war ended.
There are many secrets about WWII still being kept.
Maybe in another 50 years or less, the secrets will finally be
revealed?

I agree. At the same time, I do wonder about Krishnamurti's statements
cautioning making an idol out of knowledge -- a la Faust.

You probably don't have that problem. But me, I have a conniption when
the world isn't what I thought I knew it to be.

Yeah, too bad LucasArts' "Secret Weapons of the Luftwaffe" was only
ever an arcade game, really -- and now OOP to boot!

Mass produce nothing -- Hitler was a nut; he should have relied on his
advisers (though, admittedly, he was right in the beginning) and left
jet aircraft in the air superiority role instead of trying to get them
to be bombers.

The same thing with his armor -- kept ordering tanks, then tank
destroyers, then tanks again. Naval strategy was bad, too -- tried to
compete with the British with his own surface fleet, then relied
exclusively on submarines, etc.

Just goes to show once again that the race doesn't necessarily go to
the strong....

Yeah, like how Hitler was Jewish (by his own laws, not rabbinical
pronouncement), I'm sure.

Check out "Hitler's Jewish Soldiers" -- won a military history book
award.

Well the allied intelligence did provide the info that got his
factories (wherever they were) destroyed. One can only guess that
had this not been done, some of these secret weapons would have
been tested in warfare.
The program also noted how German industry wasn't all that organised,
as too how the projects got selected to be put into production, etc.
In that they were competing against each other, and not in support.

Yeah, everyone thinks they know the Hitler story - but there's one
about him, that says he was manipulated (and his supporters) to do all
that evil.
