From: _TJ_ on 31 Jan 2007 16:47 Hi guys. I've often meant to ask about this symptom I get sometimes but it keeps slipping my mind - the reason for that will be obvious ;-) It is a sort of brain foggyness or mental exhaustion. It's hard to describe - I find I just can't think straight or concentrate on anything for a while. My brain just sort of 'shuts down'. It is so bad I find it very hard to talk to someone at the time - I can't concentrate on their words and basically I don't hear a thing they say! Also, I can't get my words out very well and form a sensible sentence! I get it at random - I don't have it all the time, and it can last maybe 10 minutes or even an hour or more. I have been getting it for years but I'm not sure exactly when it started. I'm guessing maybe it started around when I developed panic & depression but I could be wrong. I can't see the pattern in it - it can happen when I have slept well or not, whether I am anxious or not, or whether I am depressed or not. There may be a pattern there that I'm not recognising though. Can anyone advise what the likely cause could be. Possibilities I'm considering might include one of the following... An anxiety or panic side-effect Depression A sleep disorder of some kind A blood-sugar disorder (sometimes sugar helps a bit. Usually not though) Something else? I'm 99% sure it is not a side-effect of Klonopin - I had this long before I started taking any drugs! I am also 100% sure it is not simple tiredness. I often sleep well and still have it. This is more severe than any tiredness I had throughout my life (before I became ill). Does anyone else get this? Did you ever figure out what the cause is? Any advice would be much appreciated. I keep making a total fool of myself because of this thing and I really want to find a solution. :-( Many thanks ! -- _TJ_ <TJ_IREL at YAHOO dot IE> -- ========== Please DELETE this text block when replying! ========== Contact the moderators at: asapm-board(a)stump.algebra.com The charter is available at: http://readystump.algebra.com/~asapm ========= This notice is added to each approved article ==========

Margrove and Jackie can tell you exactly WHAT to have checked, but this is something I would explore to find out more about it.. just sounds like something not to blow off and not investigate. Could be a whole lot of things, could be something serious or something not serious at all, but I'd go find out for sure. I forgot (of course) to add that my pdoc reckons this is an effect of severe fatigue caused by depression. He put me on Ritalin before (and some other stimulant I forget the name of ) to try to combat this but they both made my anxiety really bad so I had to quit them :-( I tried Wellbutrin a while back, and it seemed like it would really help this symptom - but that also made my anxiety intolerable. Damn this anxiety!! I am always interested in alternate opinions! I do agree it would be a good idea to have more medical tests done to be on the safe side. Thanks again for the help :-) -- _TJ_ <TJ_IREL at YAHOO dot IE> -- ========== Please DELETE this text block when replying! ========== Contact the moderators at: asapm-board(a)stump.algebra.com The charter is available at: http://readystump.algebra.com/~asapm ========= This notice is added to each approved article ==========

Do you have any particular allergy in mind or could any food allergy do this?
