Hi guys. I've often meant to ask about this symptom I
get sometimes but it keeps slipping my mind - the reason
for that will be obvious ;-)

It is a sort of brain foggyness or mental exhaustion. It's hard
to describe - I find I just can't think straight or concentrate on
anything for a while. My brain just sort of 'shuts down'.

It is so bad I find it very hard to talk to someone at the time - I
can't concentrate on their words and basically I don't hear a
thing they say! Also, I can't get my words out very well and
form a sensible sentence!

I get it at random - I don't have it all the time, and it can last
maybe 10 minutes or even an hour or more. I have been
getting it for years but I'm not sure exactly when it started.
I'm guessing maybe it started around when I developed
panic & depression but I could be wrong.

I can't see the pattern in it - it can happen when I have slept well
or not, whether I am anxious or not, or whether I am depressed
or not. There may be a pattern there that I'm not recognising though.

Can anyone advise what the likely cause could be. Possibilities
I'm considering might include one of the following...

An anxiety or panic side-effect
Depression
A sleep disorder of some kind
A blood-sugar disorder (sometimes sugar helps a bit. Usually not though)
Something else?

I'm 99% sure it is not a side-effect of Klonopin - I had this long
before I started taking any drugs! I am also 100% sure it is not simple
tiredness. I often sleep well and still have it. This is more severe
than any tiredness I had throughout my life (before I became ill).

Does anyone else get this? Did you ever figure out what the cause is?

Any advice would be much appreciated. I keep making a total fool
of myself because of this thing and I really want to find a solution. :-(

Many thanks !

TJ,

I really recommend that you go get a thorough check up. Margrove and
Jackie can tell you exactly WHAT to have checked, but this is
something I would explore to find out more about it.. just sounds like
something not to blow off and not investigate. Could be a whole lot of
things, could be something serious or something not serious at all,
but I'd go find out for sure.

Take GOOD care,

Sally

My guess is poor nutrition, effects of food allergies, and/or poor
absorption of nutrients.

Hi Sally! Thank's for the reply. I forgot (of course) to add that my pdoc
reckons this is an effect of severe fatigue caused by depression. He put me on
Ritalin before (and some other stimulant I forget the name of ) to try to
combat this but they both made my anxiety really bad so I had to quit them :-(

I tried Wellbutrin a while back, and it seemed like it would really help this
symptom - but that also made my anxiety intolerable. Damn this anxiety!!

I am always interested in alternate opinions! I do agree it would be
a good idea to have more medical tests done to be on the safe side.

Thanks again for the help :-)

Thanks Marie. Do you have any particular allergy in mind or could
any food allergy do this?

Thanks again :-)
