HI,

I dumped lycria -- nasty side effects.

I started something called methocarbamol (Robaxin) today. Thus far, some
tiredness, some dry month, but I think it is helping with pain. Wondering
if anyone had any experiance with this, and possiably any comments on it (I
am intrested in knowing how it works out longer term).

This drug is very simular to SOMA from what I umderstamd. Does anyone have
any comments / though on your experiance with SOMA?

My biggest anoyance is, Stuff that makes me more tired and stuff that dry my
month out... I mean there are lots of other weird side effects out there,
but in this class (Muscle Relaxants), thoes are the wost 2 offenders as far
as I can tell, and they bother me quite a bit.

I am optimistic that I will get used to the medication, and the side effects
will start to go away.

There is also the though of trying tizandine to.. It seems to have more
side effects from what I can tell. Any thoughs on this one?

Thanks in advance for your comments. I will report more tommrow after I
have had a couple more doses on this medication.

Thanks again,

Jamie Dolan

I find Soma to be good at night. For me it does cause more fatigue, but that's
good at night.
Before I say this, I want to say I have a high tolerance for meds and they
often effect me completely differently than most people.
During the day I take 2 10 mgs Flexuril 1 to 3 x's a day.It has no side
effects for me and does provide 75% relief of the stiff, I walk like I'm 400
instead of 40 feeling. When I'm not flaring and am able to walk and stretch
daily, I usually don't need it at all for day time. I try really hard to
keep meds to a minimal when I can. It probably doesn't really help the
damage done when I can't do without, but it makes me feel better.Validates
in my own mind that I don't abuse just because I'm forced to use.
I really hate the fact that there have been enough important people in my
life who've questioned & suggested to the point that I even have that
need.Geez if we actually looked as bad as we hurt everyone would be afraid
of us.

It's not really seeming to directly relax the muscle, but it does seem
to some how mitigate pain a bit. The only thing I have found thus far
that helps muscles relax is higher doses of veremepial. It is the only
thing that really pulls the pain out of my muscles, espically the
calves. I am talking to my md on tuesday to see if we can push the
dose high enough on an regular basis to keep up the results.

I am going to try the Robaxin for a few more days. But I think I might
try the soma. My biggest debate is, is it just better to use more
hydrocodone, as opposed to the muscle relaxant?

I would not mind the muscle relaxant if it end up helping and not
leaving me too sedated, with too much dry mouth...

I guess another couple days of use will really awswer my questions
about the side effects... I think the side effects may be worse when i
take with with hydorocodone...

I used hydorcodone, Robaxin, benedryl, and vermeperial last night, and I
went to bed about 3, got up at 11. Feel like I slep pretty well.
This am i took a Robaxin, 1500mg tylenol, 20 dexidrine, predisone,
singular, and my nasal spray. Not feeling to bad right now. I will
have to see if I get really sleepy again today from the robaxin.. If I
survive on it without the hydrocodone till like 2-3 this afternoon,
then I will try it again but this time with some hydrocodone...

Thanks for listening...

Have you used Lomotil? It simply works better on a regular basis than
any other medicine I have ever tried for ibs. Lots of codine can work
too, but it can be harder to get enough of it to controal really bad
ibs. Most md will hand out lomotil pretty eaisly. Almost no side
effects from it. It has some atrophine in it, so it can cause
anti-colengeric side effects, but they are not usally bad. Just
something to keep in mind if you ever have to stop the muscle relaxants
or if they stop working well.

For GI-upset and feeling crappy in your guy, there is almost no
substitue for Librax. The second best one in my opinion is donnatel
extend tabs. It works well to. Both of these work well, and can help
limit the loose stools, but nothing stops them like lomotil.

Hydrocodone can limit lose stolls, but it often has to be dosed up
around 20mg/d to get the same effect on lose stools as a handful of
lomotil does.

Recently, though, I have been doing quite well with the hydrocodone.
Some times I have lose stools, but I dont have more than 2-3 bm a day
now for the most part. Was up to 10 or more movements in the past,
prior to lomotil and regular use of hydrocodone.

Are you trying to stop smoking at all or not intrested??

Nina - this made me laugh -- it's so true! I can just picture cranky,
lined, frowning faces with electric lights going off and on in our eyes.
You bet they'd all run. And maybe, just maybe, they'd believe that's how we
really feel. We've just learned to mask it.
