From: Nancy on 17 Oct 2007 15:55 Hi folks! Has anyone out there been diagnosed with Parkinson's disease? It seems that my falling has been labelled this. I looked it up on the Mayo Clinic website, and have many of the symptoms, but, it also says something about long-term use of psych drugs. Of course, Zoloft and Buspar are not mentioned! Smile and there will be something to smile about! Nancy
From: anon on 17 Oct 2007 16:46 Hi Nancy, I don't have parkinsons. This is just a quick note on the subject... Parkinson like symptoms, tremors, dystonias, myoclonus, etc, can be brought on by a wide variety problems including systemic, neurological, acute drug reactions, long term drug reactions, brain injury, and more. Yes, there are drugs that can and do bring on these symptoms. Tardive dyskinesia - eg tics and other involuntary movements are often seen with long term use of neuroleptics and some other antipsychotic drugs that interfere with dopamine. It can also happen with SSRI antidepressants, but not so commonly. If your symptoms coincide with a change in your medication, you should of course be alert to the possibility that it is medication related...
