From: Mike Kingston on 21 Feb 2005 05:40 A few years ago I searched on the Internet for information on allergy/intolerance of peppers and turned up some references that mentioned some acid content that caused problems of digestion, and listed some other food items that contained such acids. All I can find now are marvellous cures based on peppers! Pointers to ill effects of peppers would be welcomed. I replying by e-mail, please remove MJK from address. I have this strange belief that it hinders address collection by spammers (suffered much at their hands in the past). -- Michael J Kingston - Researching Family History News of surname DIGWEED always welcomed < Remove my initials from the "To:" address field when replying >

Usually problems with this group of plants are due to tropane alkaloids, but some are probably protein- related. See the plant relationships file on my website for the details of the family. Tropane alkaloids may reduce acid secretion in the stomach; that might affect digestion. ============== j-c ====== @ ====== purr . demon . co . uk ============== Jack Campin: 11 Third St, Newtongrange EH22 4PU, Scotland | tel 0131 660 4760 <http://www.purr.demon.co.uk/jack/> for CD-ROMs and free | fax 0870 0554 975 stuff: Scottish music, food intolerance, & Mac logic fonts | mob 07800 739 557
