From: survivalist on 25 May 2006 22:54 My depression/mild anxiety (I'm unipolar) responds very well to Paxil, except that it gives me complete anorgasmia. I've tried other ADs (Zoloft, Serzone, Effexor, Cymbalta, Wellbutrin, Lexapro, others) and they either have the same effect (those that target serotonin) or were ineffective (those that don't target serotonin). Cymbalta was the last washout (worked well, same anorgasmia). So my doc is switching me to a combination of Paxil + Depakote. From what I've read about Depakote, it's an anti-convulsive that is sometimes used as an anti-manic...the doc believes it may cure the anorgasmia. If I could find something to take along with Paxil, that would be swell, as that is the drug that works best for me. None of the "herbal" treatments (yohimbe, ginkgo, etc.) have worked. Just curious if anyone has gone the Paxil + Depakote route for unipolar and what their experiences/side effects were. I'm doing 40mg Paxil (yes, have same effects at 20mg) and 500mg of Dep. -S.
From: NoAnswers on 28 May 2006 14:58 I wasn't familiar with the word anorgasmia so I looked it up on Wikipedia and came across the following info that might be helpful: "The chemical amantadine has been shown to cure SSRI-induced anorgasmia in some people, though not in all people." (Wikipedia) The link below goes to the Wikipedia iformation page for the drug amabtadine. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amantadine Best wishes
