I'm quite sure if you had a fear of spiders or flying in planes then he could help you a lot. However his claims to have some magic fix for all phobias are designed to help sell his books and videos. Hypnosis cannot 'cure' major phobias such as SP or Agoraphobia because these are deep seated psychological conditions, too complex to respond to simple suggestion. Hypnosis works by planting suggestions just below the level of normal consciousness. The subject must be willing to accept these suggestions and also have some faith in them. The mind will absorb these suggestions on a temporary basis, but will automatically reject them if they prove to be unrealistic. I tried hypnosis many years ago with a good professional hypnotherapist. I felt a lot better for a day or two and thought it had worked... but sure enough it all came flooding back. Future visits did nothing whatsoever other than cost money. The crushing disappointment that I felt made me wish that I'd never tried hypnosis so I honestly wouldn't advise anybody to waste time with it. I did find SELF-hypnosis helpful though. Again it won't 'cure' you, but it can have a positive and beneficial effect on your outlook and feeling of well-being. You can teach it to yourself - there's plenty of books around. I tried several methods and had the most success by making my own tape recordings containing positive affirmations played back during sessions of meditation. There are no quick fixes for SP. Better to work towards a long term recovery. Riccip
