From: Turtlerock on 9 Oct 2008 01:00 I'm 26 and I've just been getting back into weightlifting. I've seen excellent gains in a fairly short period of time but lately when I press anything of considerable weight, I get a very sharp pain in my pinky finger that is so unbearable that I cannot complete the lift. This all started maybe four days ago and there doesn't seem to be any sign of it getting better. I've been just sticking to squats, chins and pushups in the meantime(I tried dips but the same issue with the pain in the finger occurs.) Needless to say, I really hope I can start benching again pretty soon. I'm thinking that it might possibly be a broken blood vessel in my hand, but really I have no damn clue. If anybody has an idea of what could be going on, how long this might take to heal or any other kind of advice, it would be very appreciated.
From: number6 on 9 Oct 2008 04:18 Sounds like a nerve thing doesn't it? I used to get finger pain and numbness from cycling, i figure due to the weight on my palms. Gloves didn't help but rest certainly did: a shoulder muscle was responsible i suspect. Have you upped the weight recently? Have you tried the glove route and or perhaps some wrist warm-ups exercises? Even deepheat might do the trick. <Turtlerock(a)gmail.com> wrote in message news:9862c439-d3d4-4eda-8cfc-9f844ff680ef(a)t42g2000hsg.googlegroups.com... > > I'm 26 and I've just been getting back into weightlifting. You're freaking out after 4 days? You're injured, take a week or two break and let your body heal. Work back in slowly. If it still hurts, see a doctor and stop doing things that hurt. Geez GenY really have no patience. Ari -- spammage trappage: remove the underscores to reply Many people around the world are waiting for a marrow transplant.
