Hi All,

I am 6 months away from RP - all is well
except that Willie does not get up when he sees a lady.
Anyone with good / bad experience with a pump?

THANKS

Rueben,

I was a short-time user of the pump. It took me a long time to get around
to getting one and far too soon thereafter went on ADT. But, my experience
with it was good. It's somewhat messy, but it worked well to help me get
back in the saddle.

hi reuben - the pump is probably the most important part of regeneration
of the erectlle system after the RP - in my opinion. and it is also the
most over looked.

here's why........before surgery, you were getting erections. it was a
natural process, and the pump is to this natural process as CPR is to
heart attacks. in both applications, the organ can not function on
it's own and needs help until such time, it can take over again.

there are two major features that need to be discuss.

one, fresh blood.

anywhere, there is a large amount of fresh blood, the body heals faster.
the mouth, face, head are examples of this. so, by manually bringing
blood to this area will aid in the regeneration of the nerves.

second

you are expanding the bladders inside the organ for erection. they
haven't been used for awhile and will ache when expanded. look at it
like walking after being in bed ridden for a long time. your legs will
ache being used the first few times.

Hi Reuben.

I'm about 6 months since open RRP surgery also and the guys are right
about the pump.

Curtis gave a great explanation as to WHY they help...and Len gave a
great reason to get a "good" one.

My doc likes the use of daily ED drugs (or Cialis, every other day) and
the use of a pump and manual stimulation...all starting just 1 month out
from surgery.

I got a 'novelty' pump right away.

Now 'novelty' doesn't mean that it has a picture of clown on it, or
that it's a toy...but it's often not as well made as the type that Len
describes.

I'm going to get a better one (which is worth it) while I hopefully
await spontaneous erections.

As they said...it's good to get the blood flowing...not to mention the
positive psychological effect of seeing an erection again.

Best wishes,

Ron B.
