From: Tim Arnold on 22 Feb 2007 08:13 Greetings, A recent news story indicated that long term use of Nexium or Prilosec showed to increase the chances of breaking a hip in older patients. Can anyone confirm this? I'm a 57 yo male who can control acid reflux w/Prilosec OTC. However, over the past 5 years I've had several stress fractures (metatarsal and fibula) and a recent dexascan indicated slighly low bone density in the hip. I have a appt w/an endocrinologist. And I've recently started taking calcium supplements. Suggestions? Thanks, Tim
From: Vanny on 22 Feb 2007 10:10 If you do a literature search at www.pubmed.com and www.medscape.com (log-in required) you will find the relevant publication. This has been in the news worldwide. I hope that you are taking calcium plus vitamin D.
