Drainable versus Closed-end while in France
I have an ileostomy and use a two-piece drainable appliance. I've experimented with closed-end pouches, but went back to drainable because I go through more than two pouches a day (I need to change about every eight hours) and drainables, therefore, are more cost-effective for me. I am having a REAL problem. I was diagnosed in December, 1999 as a stage III. I had a colostomy in June of 2000. I have had a number of surgeries, chemo and radiation. Multivitamins

Prostate cancer and colectomy
I'm wondering about men over 50 out there who have had a total proctocolectomy (removal of colon, rectum and anus resulting in an illeostomy). The standard test done for prostate cancer is the PSA test. If the level is high, the Urologist would then perform a digital exam. In men without an anus this is impossible... 1 Apr 2006 00:34
operation overload

Intestinal Adhesions
I am having more and more frequent problems with what I am guessing is abdominal adhesions. I have had them before, but I must have been better medicated at the time, because these are REALLY painful. Foul odor
I am a celiac (gluten free meals) and have an Ileostomy. Due to this I live with poor food absorbtion and therefore foul odor from my pouch when emptying. I have tried M9 and other remedies ie. mouth wash, perfume etc. to no avail. Does anyone have a solution, I would make it much more pleasant to visit people.... 27 Feb 2006 23:53
