Everyone should know that the oregano grown in the mountains of countries
like Italy, Spain, and Greece, is valid. Beginning with Oil of Oregano many
years ago, I totally stopped every virus I receive, provided I swallow the
oil in a few hours. But it is extremely powerful, and swallowed too quickly I
cannot breathe! It mixes at least 30 seconds (preferably 60) under my tongue,
and no significant problems after that.

But the "Oregano" used in the United States for seasoning is a completely
different plant of the same flavor grown mostly in Mexico. I doubt there is
much benefit to that.

I would not be so sure of that. I've grown both forms.
The vulgar form of the herb is stronger in odor and
is a hearty plant as well. The form from Italy freezes
out in my climate. Anyway the odor is likely the
result of a higher level of essential oil in the vulgar
form.

This is just off an the cuff response so I maybe wrong.
