From: Bob Palermo on 18 Nov 2007 11:52 Hi, In my opinion, it's worth a try. Note that Prilosec OTC, which is available over the counter, is omeprazole so there's no need to get a prescription. Just call your doctor and let him know you are trying it. Typically, it takes at least one week for it to start working. So I'd buy the 28 pill package (20 mg) and start taking it once per day. Take it on an empty stomach, like right when you wake up in the morning. Then wait an hour before eating breakfast. After a couple of weeks, you'll probably know if it's working. If after 28 days, you've experienced no relief, then it didn't work. Whatever the outcome, you can let your doctor know how it went. Good luck.
