Not exactly a news flash. I've known many fat guys in their 40s who
required knee surgery, and it's been happening for decades.

Hip replacement is also a common one. Back problems another. Many people
experience reduction, or a total end, to their back problems when they
lose weight. If I were to carry around a 30 -50lb pack on my back all day,
my knees and back would hurt too...

Your knees can't tell the difference between muscle and fat. If you
weigh 250 lbs, are muscular and perform cardio exercises that have
impact, you are as likely a candidate for knee replacement as the 300
lb fat person. The shock loading of knees and hips can be worse than
static loading.

Best to keep weight to under 200 lbs, be it shape, but avoid high
impact aerobic exercise.

Somehow that's not an issue for FA posters!
