From: successma on 23 Feb 2007 20:22 They say if you "snoop" you get what you deserve. I have been with my boyfriend for about a little over a year. This past week I went to the Dr. and she told me I had herpes. I was/am heartbroken. I had no idea where I could have gotten it. It took me all week to tell my boyfriend. I finally sent him an email this morning. This is the thing. This morning my garage door opener did not work, so I went into his car to trade (I was late - he could deal with the dead batteries). In his console was a bottle from Walgreens pharmacy - no label. Of course I looked at it - VALTREX So after the email I I asked him if I got it from him - he said no I asked him twice and the second time he got angry- OMG he was so ok with it. Told me he loves me blah, blah, blah. I got it from him huh???? or is there any other reason he would be taking valtrex??? I just do not know what to do - I am sure it is very black and white from an outsiders view point - so please your opinion is way welcome!!!
From: Grant on 24 Feb 2007 08:28 If the bottle had no label, how do you know he was taking Valtrex? I've not seen the pills so I have no idea what they look like. How do you know you have herpes? What kind of tests did the doctor run? Where is your herpes located? What kind of herpes is it? Unless your boyfriend has shingles, I can't think of any other reason he would be using valtrex. ar <successma(a)msn.com> wrote in message news:1172280173.015423.259640(a)8g2000cwh.googlegroups.com... > They say if you "snoop" you get what you deserve. > > I have been with my boyfriend for about a little over a year. It is Genital herpes (type 2) - I had terrible blisters fever swollen glands and had a scrap/swab test and a blood test. I am going to tell him that I know he is taking Valtrex when he gets up. But. . . .I will see what he has to say

Dear Success, First, your post leaves a few questions. Did you go to the doctor because you had symptoms or were you just there for a routine check up? If either of you has ever had another partner...it's possible to have gotten Herpes from them. Many people are asymptomatic for life; are asymptomatic for a long time before they have an outbreak; or they have symptoms that are Herpes related but the pass them off as something else. Your boyfriend having the Valtrex in his car does sound suspicious, but you guys need to talk. It could be that (and I'm just stating possibilities) he got it from you and had an outbreak first. But that's why he needs to sit down with you and you guys need to come clean with each other. A little medical info here...the only way you would know if your Herpes is new is if you had a lesion and had it cultured and it came back positive. And at the same time had a blood test that came back negative. The blood test simply indicates the presence of Herpes antibodies in the blood. It can take some time for the antibodies to be present in the blood, but a lesion that is cultured will be a true indicator. If you had no lesion to test, and you simply had a blood test that came back positive....you may never know who gave Herpes to whom, unless everyone comes clean. Make sure the blood test you get is a type specific Herpes test. I was initially diagnosed with type 2, but after further testing, found out I have type 1 (which I have had for over 20 years). As to your question.. is there any other reason to take Valtrex...none that I know of :( I know this is hard; but it won't be the end of your world. I'm sure Yoshi (Angela) will reply to your post and give you lots of great advice. She moderates a website called "pickingupthepieces.com". That's where I first went and I learned so much. You should check it out~! Keep your chin up, talk with the boyfriend, and learn as much about living with Herpes as you can. Once you know more about H....you'll realize how many people actually have it and are living normal lives. Michelle

I cornered him this morning. Probably not the best way to go about it. He does have Herpes he had it for 15 years or so, just something he already dealt with, I guess it just slipped to the back burner for him. I had the lesion "scrapped" that was positive. I have not heard back on my blood test yet. Should get that back on Monday. It is very heartbreaking - I am 34 and just never thought. . .I really just need to learn more about it. |
