"Some people with diabetes and high blood pressure are to be allowed to
donate blood for the first time.

A committee of experts has ruled it is safe for these groups to give blood,
even if they are taking medication to control their condition."

Just want to pass on my experiences of this...

Phoned up the blood service 0845 7 711 711 - the help desk operator went
through 3 standard scripts (diabetes, blood pressure, high cholesterol)
asking questions about did I have or had I had arterial surgery, gangrene,
insulin treatment, foot ulcers, investigations for high bp, dizziness etc
etc. Ezetimibe was the stumbling point - not a drug on the standard
script - got passed onto a doctor who said they would have to phone me back,
which they did within a few minutes.

Result - I've got the all clear to donate again! Which I'm really chuffed
about.

Me too : ) But it's got complicated since I stopped; you've got to
have an appointment now apparently, at least in my neck of the woods.
Got one booked for next month.
