From: Robert Sparkman on 22 Jul 2006 13:33 Hello All, I'd like to ask folks for online sources of CPAP equipment, and opinions on their service. I've found these four sources: www.cpap.com www.cpapman.com www.cpapsuperstore.com www.cpapplus.com I did comparisons on full face masks only. What I've found is that www.cpap.com has significantly lower prices, along with free shipping. CPAPPlus seems to have the next-best prices, along with fairly modest shipping costs, on full face masks. CPAPSuperstore has very good prices, with free shipping, but not as much selection on full face masks. CPAPMan has the highest prices, but good selection. Let's take one item as a comparison...the Ultra Mirage full face mask. CPAP sells for 142 and free shipping. CPAPSuperstore sells for 169.98 and free shipping. CPAPMan sells for 255.23 plus shipping. CPAPPlus sells for 168 plus about 8 dollars shipping.. I don't know if all products across the board are equally priced, or if service is equal, but for this particular item, it looks like www.cpap.com is a very good source pricewise. Does anyone else have any good sources of CPAP equipment online? BTW I am shocked at the price difference between a place like www.cpap.com and local medical equipment suppliers. I understand the major issue is that the high prices are subsidizing Medicare recipients. Regards, Robert

From: maria on 22 Jul 2006 21:05 I found the cheapest Respironics REMstar Auto Smart CPAP System With C-Flex ($575) at http://www.noahsarkhomecare.com (if you are interested in one of these machines, best to buy it from them before August because their prices are going up). They have excellent support and answer email questions immediately. I buy my all my masks/supplies at www.directhomemedical.com (free shipping for anything over $100) Maria Maria Paul R wrote: > "Robert Sparkman" <sparkmanrl(a)myspeedworks.com> wrote in message > news:Rjtwg.11$YP3.831(a)eagle.america.net... >> Hello All, >> >> I'd like to ask folks for online sources of CPAP equipment, and opinions >> on their service. >> >> I've found these four sources: >> >> www.cpap.com >> www.cpapman.com >> www.cpapsuperstore.com >> www.cpapplus.com >> >> I did comparisons on full face masks only. >> >> What I've found is that www.cpap.com has significantly lower prices, along >> with free shipping. >> >> CPAPPlus seems to have the next-best prices, along with fairly modest >> shipping costs, on full face masks. >> >> CPAPSuperstore has very good prices, with free shipping, but not as much >> selection on full face masks. >> >> CPAPMan has the highest prices, but good selection. >> >> Let's take one item as a comparison...the Ultra Mirage full face mask. >> CPAP sells for 142 and free shipping. First, most times they are asked for prices, they quote negotiated prices with insurers. I know many local DMEs here in Vermont who if they know you are paying cash may try to work out a lower price. One has to be careful since their negotiated price is supposed to be their lowest... Secondly, all local DMEs are much smaller than a big internet company. Their costs for keeping stock and personnel are astronomically greater and their per unit cost is greater (especially in small markets like ours). Third, local DMEs are expected to provide much more support. Hell, I can go throw a brick through a local store front if one screws me. I can kill some of their business by word of mouth. No one knows where the people or places are when one buys mail order. Returns, fitting assistance, etc. are burdens on the local DMEs. Fourth the manufacturers have less control over big resellers. ResMed's threatened price protection scheme indicates how hard it is for them to corral in the internet companies while they have much greater control (i.e,. price fixing) over the little guys. So, buy at the lowest price. But don't be shocked at the obvious. But, when one finds a decent local DME (hard to do I admit), if one does have insurance, patronize it). harlan -- To respond, obviously drop the "nospan"?

He cost me a lot of money and trouble. However, this was on a shipment to Europe, and he may well be ok for the US. |
