... because we are all so different in our responses to the exact same
foods.

... and because we ourselves get different responses to the exact same
foods
eaten at different times of the day.

this stuff is just nuts, I tell ya :-)

But, if we test enough, we learn more about our own situations and
we can detect a very predictable pattern of responses.

Yes, I recall reading something here about that ratio. Maybe from you and I
think even Quentin?? I also remember reading something about "fluffy ducks"
in Quentin's book. Anyway, I will add it to my tracking worksheets. I
think I was hoping to avoid deep scientific thought ... at least for me.
It's not my strong suit. I am kind of a numbers person so maybe I can
learn the basics of how the numbers happen then play with my charts. :-)

Knowing now that 3% is a good target I think I'll ask the doc in Oct. what
she thinks mine should be. She has a general practice but has told me she
has over 450 patients with diabetes.

Try this:

Ratio of triglycerides to HDL cholesterol is an indicator of
LDL particle size in patients with type 2 diabetes and
normal HDL cholesterol levels

and this is interesting, but related to IR:

That 3 isn't a % it's a ratio.
