Yes, and calories, too, which the Byetta may help with. Thing is, you
may be able to eat a small peach or a low carb piece of bread, but both?
And at breakfast? Just not the wisest way to go about it. Your liver is
going to convert excess carbs and calories to TGLs.

I can do that, I think.

30-35 is still really rather high for most type 2s at one sitting.

Other than my fasting all

You might start at a number like 100 per day (less is great, too) and
then divide it into 3 meals and two small snacks, so you're not eating
such high amounts at once.

Thanks Susan. I don't think I'm accomplished enough to snip and post across
the replies. Anyway I'll definitely take a different approach. I didn't
think about spreading the total day carbs across more "eating events" With
Byetta I've not had an appetite so I thought skipping snacks would be a good
thing. However, your point is well taken and makes sense.

You know, I don't even know what triglycerides are other than something to
do with fat. I always think that the good and bad cholesterol are what the
doc focuses on but reading posts here I think I need to learn a little more
about all of these numbers. Guess I'll do some google work soon. I know my
LDL probably came down as a result of my exercise. Just gotta do a bit
more.

Thanks again - I appreciate the point of view that is very prevalent here.
It's pretty hard line - not like any of the other forums I've read. I like
it. It feels right.

I think it's a pretty standard recommended approach, to avoid spikes and
troughs in bg by spreading the carbs thinner.

Yeah, because those good and bad cholesterol statements are all wrong.
LDL is WONDERFUL because all of our adrenal steroids are made from it.
You never want to be low in it, but you don't want it to be VLDL, the
small, dense atherogenic LDL. HDL is "good" in that if it's high it's a
marker for the good kind of LDL, the large, fluffy, undamaging stuff you
want plenty of.

TGLs are fatty acids your liver stores extra carbs and calories as. And
they are the single most accurate predictor of heart disease, so you
want them low, closer to 100, and HDL high, because low TGLs and high
HDL as a pattern indicate that you're making the good LDL, not VLDL.

Hope it works for you. Adjustments in thinking and habits take time.

No - testing is the only way to be sure.
