From: rohitsz on 10 Feb 2006 16:25 Greetings there. My father has had 2 IM rods inserted in his left forearm(elbow to palm) around 25 years ago. Recently due to a bit of weight loss, one end of the rods, started to create an internal wound inside the left elbow which is very irritating... upon seeing an orthopaedic doctor, after seeing the x-rays he said that he can remove the rods. during the operation, the doctor was unable to move either of the two rods..not even a millimeter... he said he had 'hammered' it for an hour... and gave up later on. so currently the doc has just cleared the wound.. and put up the normal tissues...and says that there are 50-50 chances that the wound would heal up and never come back... so can anyone link me to a similar case with a possible solution? does any lubrication/cutting a part of the rod etc work?? thanks rohit.
