Low-dose naltrexone works for Crohn's; may affect cannabinoid receptors
A new clinical trial indicates that low-dose naltrexone (LDN) is effective for Crohn's disease [PMID 17222320]. I think this may be due to the way friendly gut bacteria boost expression of mu opioid and cannabinoid receptors and the way in which the two types of receptors interact [PMID 16286810]. Gut dysbios... 20 Jan 2007 02:09
Probiotics (and low-dose Naltrexone) to the rescue !!
This pubmed abstract [PMID 17159985] doesn't mention low-dose naltrexone, but I think this pretty well explains why LDN is so effective in IBD -- LDN enhances mu-opioid expression, the opioid receptor stimulated by friendly gut bacteria. Mu-opioid receptor expression could drop from constant exposure to mercury, m... 21 Jan 2007 19:33

Flagyl and Lower Back Pain
Has anyone else experienced temporary but painful inflammation of various nerves when first starting flagyl (metronizadol)? In my case, it primarily affected the sciatic nerve that runs from the lower back to the feet. I am wondering if the nerve inflammation is just another result my Leaky Gut Syndrome or possibly... 9 Oct 2006 14:02

Do I have IBS?
For about eight years now, I have been bothered, increasingly with mucous discharges after normal bowel movements. I will also occasionally go through several... 5 Oct 2006 17:01
