Mary had stated that since I've put up with the pain from ankylosing
spondylitis for 20 years, another pain doesn't bother me.

A couple weeks later, I had an appointment at a clinic for a Lidocane
injection in the hip. I was surprised that there were two doctors
preping for it. Then one held my leg firmly while the second did
the injection. They were glancing at each other with a funny look
on their faces. I then realized they were expecting me to react
to that longggggggg needle and were confused when I didn't.

After it was over, I quoted Mary's statement and they agreed that
probably was why I didn't feel the needle that day.

On August 13 I begin another series of Synvic or Hyalgen injections
(first in 18 months). Unless procedures have changed drastically
in that year-and-a-half, the rheumy will "freeze" the knee before
the injection.

I've never felt the needle in the previous treatments. Usually my
fused neck is strained and I have a minor headache and I don't feel
anything else. <G>
