From: ChrisC on 3 Aug 2008 05:26 I had a nasty cough about a week and a half ago. Got some CorBar Linctus. Which contains 10mg Codeine for every 5ml and 20mg of Ephedrine for every 5ml. One bottle is 200ml. Since the cough I'm on two bottles a day. Now we come to why! As most you know or those of you who have been following my post's I'm coming home to the UK on the 9th of August. Everytime I take the codeine the pain and sadness of leaving my wife and daughter behind is easier to manage. Tomorrow is my last working day, I shall need some to get through that. Then I'm off work till the flight. Seeing as it's been such a short time will the withdrawals be harsh. Is there anything to do to help? The last time I was addicted to codeine I found wine really helpful, you know one of those 5 litre boxes of sweet red wine. My question is this. I aim to quit after I have done my days work. How bad can I expect things to feel. Oh and please don't give me a lecture about how I shouldn't have got addicted. I'm going through some serious life changes and when you find yourself something that eases the pain, naturally you continue to use it. And yes I know I'm prolonging the inevitable comedown/depression. Well at least when I get to the UK they don't freely hand out codeine over the counter. So the addiction will stop. Also I'm going back to sort my head out so...whatever blah blah blah If you do feel the need to tell me off, flame me whatever. Please do it nicely I'm a sensitive individual at the moment. Take that in to consideration.
From: Mister Goldfinger on 3 Aug 2008 22:41 Chris, I hear that codeine is very constipating. But why aren't you taking a benzo to help you with the heavy duty stress you say you are under? Good luck in England trying to get Xanax or some other Benzodiazepine. But I can understand how you can become dependent on certain drugs because they make you feel better. I remember taking Percocet due to a gallbadder problem, and it made me feel so calm and carefree, as well as taking the pain away. Why can't scientists find a 'feel good' drug that everyone can take to .....feel good throughout the day without any side effects or dependency. I'm sure they have it locked up someplace, and the powers to be don't want people to feel happy. They are afraid that people will go to the park and fly a kite instead of going to work, We can't have people singing and not worrying about anything. It would ruin the drug business as well as the shrink business. A happy pill. I'm sure it will be reality 15 years from now. Good luck and be well Chris. Goldfinger

What i do is a move around a lot all day to improve my mood. I only feel good when i am manic, otherwise i feel depressed. I have schizophrenia. In manic stage im in love with the world and carefree. Some people might say i should be on neuroleptics when i have schizophrenia or other mood balancing meds. I tried those, they didnt make me feel that good and not nearly as good as my high trance like states i get every day when i exercise a lot
