From: Worn Out Retread on 28 Jul 2008 10:04 Being a male, I have never had menopause but with all the hormonal changes that women go through at that time, I wouldn't be at all surprised that medications would work differently. Chip or Margrove could probably give you better advice on this matter. -- Ron P If we are what we eat then: I'm fast, cheap and easy and past my best before date "Diana" <diaNOSPAMthijs(a)hetnet.nl> wrote in message news:488cf3b4$0$735$3a628fcd(a)textreader.nntp.hccnet.nl... > My dear Family; > > I need some advice about med; > Is it posibble that med works different before, duringa and after the > memo-pauze? > I had med; a few years a go, and when I take them now after the > memo-pauze, > they work different. From: Diane on 28 Jul 2008 10:55 I don't know if it would work different before, during, or after, but you should see your doctor if you're having blackouts Diana. Please go. {{{{{{{Diana}}}}}}} And let us know what he says. Dear Diana, That is a very good question Diana. I think it's possible that your body is different or perhaps your disorder is progressing or changing. My anxiety disorder is very different now than it was 20 years ago. I know finding an effective med has been very hard for you. In my opinion, you need fresh ideas from a new doctor. Do you mean they're less effective? It could be because changes in estrogen levels can precipitate depression, as in premenstrual syndrome, depression in pregnany, or after pregnancy, or when estrogen levels drop in the menopause. Both rising and falling estrogen levels can precipitate depression in some women. > Or is it me that I think that they work different? Maybe the antidepressants aren't as effective when the depression has an added organic basis (such as changing estrogen levels) > Can anybody help me with this? > I had in the past never blackouts from med;, but now I had it twice. What's the med? When I started desipramine I almost passed out a few times after standing up. That's cause desipramine interfers with constriction in the small arteries in the legs. So the blood pressure drops when you stand. What do you mean by blackout? Your vision grows dim and black? Or you faint (pass out)? Or you can't remember a period of time (such as an episode of amnesia).
