Husband with Colon Cancer with mets to both lungs and lymph nodes. Was on
Folfox for 11 months and it quit working, tumors started growing. Went off
chemo for 4 weeks and started a new trial with folfiri and possibility of
new drug being added. Has to have cat scans every 6 weeks on this one. He
has had one and onc said she thought there was some shrinkage but it has to
be 20% for it to be official. She also said the lymph nodes are looking
better. He will get a treatment this coming Wednesday and gets them every 2
weeks. Before the next one he will be due for another scan so will know more
then. We have told the onc that if this isn't working he will not continue
with it. It has been real rough on him with fatigue, loss of appetite and
shortness of breath from just walking across the room. He says if it is
working he can handle it but if not forget it. Mom with liver cancer saw the
Dr. last month. According to the scan the cancer is still dying but they
think she is in liver failure now. The only thing they can do is treat the
symptoms as they occur. Right now they have her on lasix due to fluid build
up in legs and around her abdomen. They just doubled it 2 days ago because
legs are not going down. They also have her on a liquid that is also a
laxative. It is to keep the ammonia levels down in her blood. Dr. said she
will be on it the rest of her life. So everything is wait and see. Just
taking one day at a time. I am now the official driver. Husband quite
driving in June do to being too tired and figures reflexes would be too
slow.

Thanks for the update, Gloria. I'm sorry things aren't going better.
I hope the shrinkage of your husband's tumors continues, and he
tolerates the treatments well. It sounds like everyone involved is
doing all they can. Keep your spirits up, and be sure to take time to
take care of yourself, too.

Best Wishes,
CSM

Hello Gloria,
Thank you for the update. I'm sorry to read that things aren't going as well as
hoped.

As best I can recalll, there's only been a handful of people (here) with two
loved ones, in such dire circumstance, at the same time.

Please know that I care very much and wish there was something I can do to
somehow help.
It's not the same as being there, but here's some virtual hugs for you.

I know you're a strong lady, but any time, Gloria, you feel like talking, we're
here.
To listen and care.
