From: Sonya Kunkle on 10 Nov 2007 19:56 Hi, Chad. I went some years ago, and found it helpful to a degree, but really no more so than any other speech therapy. Even my last day there I had trouble w/my Ds...They give you "targets" like any other speech therapy...maybe it's worth a shot. If you're amenable to a medicinal approach I found that Zyprexa (olanzapine) helps me out a great deal, but of course there are possible side effects. I'm not saying it's a cure-all for everyone; I just mention it as an option to consider. I believe studies have found that olanzapine combined with speech therapy gets the best results. Good luck. From: Chad on 22 Nov 2007 11:53 Thanks for getting back to me. I did have success with Zyprexa on Dr. Maguire's program, but the side effects were less than desirable. Apparently there is a new med they add to it that offsets the weight gain, so maybe it's worth another go. Did you find that what you learned at Hollins continued to help after leaving the program? I've heard that after a few months people tend to go back to their normal speech patterns. And that's a lot of money to waste if so. Thanks again. Chad Sonya Kunkle wrote: > Hi, Chad. From: Sonya Kunkle on 26 Nov 2007 21:54 Hi, Chad. I don't find that what I learned at Hollins helps, no. I find that what I learned over the many years of speech therapy helps, especially easy onset and continuous phonation.
