From: Linda on 20 Sep 2005 22:18 Hello immune people: I have a problem with hives that has been going on for about a year. (Comes & goes, many different spots, rubbing/chafing seems to aggravate it.) I can't figure out what I may be allergic to. I'm not sure if my immune system is going strange. I am a 45 yr old woman, had hysterectomy 2 yrs ago (big fibroid), ovaries still functioning (maybe), no meds, slim, fit, started long distance running about 2 yrs ago too. If I am heading into menopause and/or am training for marathons ... can one or both of these events stress out my immune system to the point that my skin is extra sensitive? (Also a swimmer, maybe Chlorine is culprit?) Thank you anybody for input/advice. Linda.

There are tests that they can run that can test your sensitivity to a variety of factors from foods to enviroment. He/she will also be able to provide answers (or suggest followup work) based on a physical exam and complete history. Immune system problems, if present, can be complex and can vary from person to person with regard to severity just as can many other diseases. Good luck, Shylirin
