I am on N-Acetyl Cysteine. It isn't exactly herbal, but it is non-prescription. There are two trials of it running in my town, one for depression and one for bipolar. It helped me tremendously, but it won't necessarily work for everybody. My daughter swears by St John's Wort, which has been used in Europe for a long time. It clashes with my meds. If you want a selection of remedies, mostly from people trying to sell a book, go to http://ezinearticles.com/?cat=Health-and-Fitness:Depression I inherited depression, and my pdoc is trying to locate and fix the damaged link in my chain of brain chemicals. That approach is clearly wrong for others. The dispute about talk therapy vs chemical treatment will probably go on forever. One suits some; the other suits others. A good online book about meds and herbal remedies is at http://www.mentalmeds.org/ You can buy a hard copy from Amazon.com. Doug. |
