Well I'm new here. To start off I am 31 soon to be 32. May 18th. I have
multiple sclerosis diagnosed when I was 28.(2001) And I also am obese. I am
5'4 and over 300 lbs. Which is not good for any of my illnessess. I also
have diabetes and Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome(PCOS). Which the docs think
pushed my over for diabetes. I also have Metabolic Syndrome. I also have
an older brother who was hit by a car has a brain injury. And both parents
have diabetes. And 1/2 sister that has IBS. We are still a positive and
happy family. It could have been worse. One of my many doctors wants to
put me on OPTIFAST. But Medicare does not cover it. So starting Wednesday
I am starting on Slimfast. Will keep you guys informed. From the MS I lost
ALL my friends. But I have new ones now.

Does Medicare operate in other countries besides Australia?
If not, then that means you and I are in the same country. Just wondering
because I know of a good place for weight issues that's in NSW.
Just a thought if you are nearby.
Ms. Obese.

I live in South Dakota. Medicare won't pay for it because it is considered
cosmetic and elective. The 1st doc that told me about it his boss won't let
him sign up to be a distribulator of it. My general doctor is checking into
her to distribute it.

Oh no worries. I hope your GP can get things working for you.
I was going to tell you (maybe you can still look into this?) there is a
place near me that is called an "Obesity Clinic" and its really good. They
get you to see an Endocrinologist, a Dietician and a fitness person (not
sure what the proper name is)
There are also 2 links I know of that may have something close to you (I
haven't really looked though). I'm not advertising or anything but I thought
you may want to check the links out. The first one I actually e-mailed them
and did not get any reply (this was a couple of months ago), but you may
find something. Hope you can get your problems sorted out.
www.circleofcare.com.au
http://www.sureslim.com.au/ (they also have a site without the .au)
Hope they are of some help or have links that may be good for you.
Ms.Obese.

I am starting on Slimfast shacks. Just shacks and veggies. Maybe I will
lose that way. Doc says it is just like if I would have the gastric bypass
minus the veggies. So that will be my breakfast, lunch and supper and a
multiple vitamin. Oh boy..
