HI gang,
Just had my half yearly mot and doc was pleased with results. Just i thought
the Hb1ac of 6.5 was a little over!
Your thoughts please.

Just to say since my hayday of mid 5's ive put on some weight which i know
ive got to get shot of.

Question....Is there an uptodate site (UK) of foods and diets i can look at?
In the past 4 years some of my 'good' foods have been discontinued by my
local supermarket which has made things slightly difficult so i did stray
off the chicken, fish and pasta regieme.

Apart from the 6.5 all my numbers were ok but i suspect the extra weight has
something to do with that.
Help please

Anything over 4.5 is over. But it's a trade-off... I'm happy with
under 6, which allows me to eat well with no meds, so long as I keep
my exercise routine up.

What do you mean? Just stick to non-starchy veg and meat and you can't
go far wrong... basic Atkins maintenance... or do you mean low carb
treats? I use www.lowcarbmegastore.com or www.avidlite.co.uk for them.

Do you reckon that was diet or lack of exercise or both?

Not sure what you mean; obviously I can't provide UK sites,
but I'd recommend spending more time in your local
greengrocer's, butcher's and fishmonger's than in the
supermarket:-)

I know you're no newby, but a trip back to basics may help:

To be honest, both.
Past couple of years have not been the best and having to work 12 hour
shifts 6 days a week so shopping isn't easy. Also this meant my exercise
went down but still manage 30 minutes aday by walking to work.In July that
will change( new hours) so more chance to 'get out and about' so that will
be one thing.
What gets me is that the doctor and DN both say i have good control so i
wasn't overly concerned but now ive had my strips removed (thanks Gordon)
it's difficult to say what 'new' foods they say i can have are effecting me.
I did borrow some from mother in law and was shocked to see the difference
in readings on PP+2 but that's mainly down to lack of exercise.
Well ive kept a record of my early days so will re study them and 'go back
to basics' via the links supplied here.
On that note, Thanks all for replying and suggestions.

Cheers
