Quite - that's sort of why I bother.

This newsgroup didn't used to be a joke from the point of view of
support. I don't see why it shouldn't move back to being supportive,
though.

Rowland.

It would be a lot more supportive if you were not here bullying people
and constantly talking down to them.
The atmosphere here has degenerated noticeably since you have come back
from your self imposed break.

The sad thing is that Rowland from the POV of having depression is not
out of place here.
It is his personality issues that cause problems . It is hard to able
to help and be supportive, and indeed want to , when faced with someone
who undoubtedly has problems but will think it ok to attack people on
the slightest pretext.
Engaging with someone whose idea of a reasonable interaction is that
you concur with what he has to say and do not have a differing take on
things is very frustrating.
"I'm telling you that I'm right and you're wrong and that's that." sums
it up very aptly.
There is very little room in which to engage in a constructive dialogue
with Rowland.

It is a shame that he is not receiving much in the way of treatment as
he obviously has problems the tackling of which would make it more
likely that he is better able to engage with people here.

That having been said i can see how frustrating it must be when as a
mental health professional you are faced with someone who is
undoubtedly highly intelligent but seems to have no willingness or
insight as to how his behaviour impacts on himself and others.
It is very hard to help someone like that and whereas we on UPSD can not
stop him posting but killfile him if we choose; it is a different kettle
of fish with the mental health professionals.
If he has been as antagonistic with them and belligerent/pugnacious as
he has here then it would be no surprise that he is seen as someone who
is not only hard to engage with and help and support but who is seen as
a potential risk to staff and other clients.

I wonder whether somewhere like the Retreat in York could give him the
help he needs.

If you look, you should be able to find the text of letters sent to
NHS bosses.

Fit (after my sunburn), Intrepid (fearless against bites and
