Hi, just wondering if anyone else also suffers from these kinds of
sensitivities to foods and if and how they have managed to stick to any
recommended diets.

I found I had these sensitivities after an exclusion diet in my late
teens. Since that time I have tried to stick to a gluten, yeast and
lactose free diet without very much success. Whats worse, if I don't
find the food that I should eat by lunch time I end up snaking on junk
foods which are easier to get a hold of and are much less expensive
just to stop feeling hungry. I then suffer with headaches and other
symtoms of food intolerences.

Any advice, suggestions...

I follow a gluten-free and dairy-free diet with no problem. Since I eat
grains it is also yeast-free. I do eat a lot of fruit, so I get fructose
there, but I don't drink soda.

I don't have any problem following this diet. I and the others on it call
it the Paleolithic diet, or paleo diet for short. I eat three large meals
and I don't snack. If I want to delay dinner until say 10 hours after
lunch, I'll snack on organic walnuts.

I'm fortunate that my employer has a good cafeteria and I have no problem
getting food for such a diet. When eating out Indian-Pakistani is usually
the easiest. Just have to find places that don't put dairy into everything.

I hope that you don't have candida. I drink a herbal tea called, "Pau
D'Arco". It helps kill yeast. Garlic also helps kill yeast. A
naturopathic doctor or an alternative doctor can help you find out. You
can find a naturopathic doctor in the phone book. You can find an
alternative doctor (in your area) at www.acam.org.

I've no idea if I have yeast I hope not! What does Pau D'Arco taste
like? Mind you, I didn't like the taste of herbal teas or soya milk at
first taste but after a while I got used to it, now I love the stuff
and prefer them on occassion. Finding a alternative practitioner sounds
like a good idea, I don't think my dietition could do much else for me.
But arn't they expensive?

It is hard for me to describe the taste of Pau D'Arco Tea. It taste
like bitter tea to me (no sugar helps). Since I've had it a million
times, I'm used to it. It makes me feel better though.

Many insurance companies will at least partially reimburse you. It
is often worth it. My alternative doctor is treating me for candida and
another problem. I looked for my Hidden Food Allergies on my own. I
hear that for some people the reintroduction phase part of it can
trigger an asthma attack or other problems. I think this only happens
to a small number of people. This is why I recommend that a
professional guides you. You may only need to go a few times. Why not
pick up, "Dr. Braly's Food Allergy and Nutrition Revolution", at the
library? Another good book is, "Food Allergies and Food Intolerance",
by Dr. Jonathan Brostoff.
