The trolls refuse to believe that genetics is the cause of obesity.
Several studies have proved this. The trolls will counter that obesity has
exploded in the last 20 years around the world as proof that lifestyle
choices are to blame. Have the trolls ever heard of evolution?

Evolution doesn't happen over a single generation.

I would say that human beings have an inbuilt preference for high fat,
or sweet foods, that evolved in the distant past when food was scarce,
or at least not constantly plentiful - i.e. evolution installed it to
ensure that if food was around, we'd eat as much as possible of the
highest calory foods available, so we'd gain some body fat as a hedge
against the times when food was scarce (i.e. during winter etc).

For most of human history, over most of the range of places humans
have lived, food supply has not been constant and plentiful AND it
took a lot of physical work to secure it - i.e. you'd work your butt
off just to eke out a subsistance.

Now we're in the situation where in the west, we have food all the
time in embarrassing quantity, and most of us expend no physical
effort to obtain it. Gee, wonder why we're fat?

If I lived 120 years ago, I'd never have had the opportunity to get
fat. I'd probably have 12 kids, and be working from sunup to sundown
doing physically demanding labour and barely managing to get everyone
fed, clothed and housed.

Not to mention that because of these very same reasons, obesity was
seen as a symbol of social significance during these times. (Picture
an ancient king...is he fat?)

The bottom line is, no matter WHAT you believe the CAUSE of obesity to
be, the question still remains:

What are you going to do about it?

It doesn't matter whether you have a predilection to obesity or not.
You can fix it either way. Compare it to having a problem with
eyesight. Do people with eyesight try to justify it away? No, they
just fix the problem (glasses) and get on with their lives.

Being fat is absolutely no different. It just takes more work on your
part.
