Thank god I live in Canada where most (though not all drugs) are covered.
My meds would cost me more than most people pay in rent every month. Even
with the dollar I still know people who get medication cross border because
the price is better. Personally I would be wary of doing that as a
documentary here showed that many online pharmacies had read quality control
problems no matter which side of the border they were located on.

Whatever you do, stick to one pharmacy. Hopefully then, any bad
interactions will be picked up.

Here in Australia, to get pharmaceutical benefits, drugs must be prescribed.
Not only that - it is an offence to be in possession of a prescription drug
without a script. That tends to keep the cost down anyway - no taking
several, only the one or two that work. Pharmacies have an approval number
from the Nat. Health Service. We don't have online pharmacies. At one local
one, you can drop off your script in a drive-through, but you must still pick
it up in person, so that the pharmacist can be sure that you understand
everything. Wholesalers/producers too are licensed. Pharmacies were told that
if they wanted to keep their monopoly, they needed to earn it by higher
professional standards and periodic Government audits. The result is high
quality of goods and service, but high cost to the Government. It is illegal
to discount NHS drugs (current net price is just under AUD$30), and the full
cost must be written on the box, so the customer knows what they are costing
the Govt. With our smaller population, regulation is much easier.
