A cigarette metabolite accelerates vitamin D breakdown via the aryl hydrocarbon receptor
No doubt this accelerated breakdown of vitamin D by smoking metabolites helps to account for the adverse effects of smoking on other conditions like Crohn's. In essence, smoking is chewing up your vitamin D stores. Toxicol Sci. 2009 May;109(1):50-8. Epub 2009 Feb 25 The aryl hydrocarbon receptor activator b... 22 Nov 2009 06:06
Muscle Twitches = magnesium deficiency
> I am just wondering if anyone has experienced muscle twitching when your Crohns is flaring? I'll skip the footnotes. Magnesium deficiency should be at the top of your suspect list. I had severe muscle twitching until I started taking magnesium. If this is the cause of your problem, it's probably a dis... 3 Sep 2009 08:11
Confirmation that OCTN2 is downregulated in IBDs
OCTN2 is upregulated by intermittent fasting, exercise, PPARalpha agonists and, I think, testosterone. It's vital for carnitine uptake (which is antiinflammatory in the gut) and butyrate metabolism (crucial for HDAC inhibition). Many if not most people have these viruses, often from birth. It's likely my mercu... 12 Sep 2008 04:32

Respro Aero Mask
I'm thinking about ordering this (with the chemical filter) in the hopes I can go to more places (even if I look like a freak ... or a MJ wannabe). Nickel allergy

Been told to use plastic cutlery etc but also may have to follow a Nickel free diet. She's wondering what this will mean she can't eat. Can anybody... 7 Oct 2005 20:21
