The RRTC on SCI is a program of the National Rehabilitation Hospital (NRH) in collaboration with ILRU. Matthew Sanford, MA, founder and president of Mind Body Solutions will share his experience with Iyengar yoga and talk about his current work teaching an adaptive class for people living with disabilities on Wednesday, June 4th at 3:30 pm Central. Matthew is a pioneer in adaptive yoga for persons living with disabilities and has been teaching a weekly adaptive yoga class at the Courage Center in Golden Valley, Minnesota since 1998. He has received several awards for his work, including a Volvo For Life National Hero award this past March--viewable at: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JpmbzAwL5ws .. Matthew was also recently featured on NBC's Today Show and has published a memoir that chronicles his journey in understanding the mind body connection. As part of the continued focus on knowledge and prevention of secondary conditions associated with SCI, Matthew Sanford will discuss his work in adaptive yoga, and how the mind body connection applies to everyone.
