The placebo effect has not been demonstrated to be repeatable with long
term consistency. So what do we do with the alternative modalities that
do indeed produce healing effects repeatably and with long term
consistency?

Use the best possible research and try to see if that is correct. Then,
try to figure out the mechanism.

....and in the generation or two it might take to raise the funding for
your approach do I dare try out the modality for myself...just to
see....if it might happen to actually produce the results so many say
it does?

20-40 years? Hyperbole.

Just do the paperwork for a study funded by NCCAM...the paperwork only
takes on generation.
