I also take Seroquel as well and that seemed to help me turn the corner back to sanity.
From: suzie on 10 Jun 2008 22:30 hi m do you remember what dosages you where on for the effexor and wellbutrin and did you try wellbutrin with an ssri before taking effexor? is taking effexor and wellbutrin together something which is often prescribed in your country? Is the combination of Paxil and Edronax not working well for you? Effexor is rather similar to the combination of Paxil and Edronax. Paxil increases serotonin concentration, Edronax increases norepinephrine concentration, and Effexor increases both. Wellbutrin and Prozac is a common combination, and works well for many people. Whether it would work better for you than Paxil + Edronax, or Effexor, is something you'd only discover through experience. The most serious drawback to Effexor is that the withdrawal effects are very unpleasant. They can be managed through gradual tapering, but that is an issue. -- Nom dePlume, Ph.D. Why, yes, in fact, I am a rocket scientist. From: suzie on 12 Jun 2008 18:08 Hi Nom Thanks for responding My pdoc wants me to go on effexor as my severe major depression recurrant is not responding to paxil and edronax anymore and has not for many yrs. But as i said im scared to go on effexor for the reasons you pointed out. im trying to come up with an alternative to put to my pdoc. In my country wellbutrin is only available on the benefit scheme as zyban for quitting smoking , it is not listed as an ad , however i can purchase it at full price using it as an ad. This would be a major reason why my pdoc has not suggested wellbutrin. I am seeing my GP today to go over my files as i think i tried effexor a few yrs ago , took one tablet and had a severe reaction , so stopped and went back on paxil and edronax. Have just weaned off edronax, this is my second day without it. i need to make decision very soon as to which med to change too. So im thinking of the combination of wellbutrin and paxil. then weaning off paxil an going to prozac. Am currently in a major depression so need to do something. So , have i anything to lose trying the combination of wellbutrin and paxil, or do i go off the paxil and go on effexor like pdoc wants me too. Dont as i said really want to go on effexor. What do u think? I know everyone reacts differntly to different meds.
