From: anon on 11 Jun 2008 19:21 I'm not a pharmacologist, but I have heard that people must taper off antidepressants. I have also read that many of the drug companies' studies on their effectiveness are misleading, and that many of the prominent SSRI's are no more effective--or only marginally more effective--than placebos. If I can find the link to the relevant material on this, I will post it, although you could probably find it with a Google search. The benzos, however, represent an especially horrible addictive potential. As I said, they should be considered only for spot or short-term use--two weeks or less. From: anon on 11 Jun 2008 20:46 You should ask your doctor or pharmacist about this--or perhaps seek out a pharmacologist. People in a newsgroup can glean information from the Internet, but if the answers are not readily available there, you should seek out professional input on this. <me(a)privacy.net> wrote in message news:7t8054h8se8bnd5jqqe1cb023o0n16vf1a(a)4ax.com... > Ok I have question for the group since we are talking > abt how depression meds can aggravate IBS > > Does anyone know if Viagra or Levitra or other drugs > for erectile dysfunction can do the same...aggravate > gut?
From: anon on 11 Jun 2008 21:31 Don't feel bad, "Confused," Vanny is a repeat offender with her chronically tart and dismissive attitude. Moreover, even though she is not a physician or pharmacologist, she routinely presumes to dispense medical advice and judgments in a manner that is way beyond her competence. So she's ethically challenged as well as mean-spirited. Just ignore her. So--for the benefit of the legion of sufferers out here who are not in remission--what's your formula for success? Specifically, Do you take any meds aside from mesalamine? Do you take the generic form or Pentasa? What kinds of foods do you eat or avoid? What kinds of supplements do you take, and in what doses and with what frequency? Thanks.
