"Why is this here? A good question, one that goes far back into the
early days of the newsgroup when someone posted her theory on the
origins and causes of Crohn's disease. Though well intending, her
insistence in this theory and its unpopularity created not a few
problems on the newsgroup, and a newsgroup intended for caring,
spreading information and mutual support became something of a
battleground for flames. To combat the problem, our founder created a
FAQ that was to be posted to the newsgroup on a regular basis
informing people of the theory and asking that they not respond with
flames to the group. This was especially important since someone was
sending the theory to newbies and sometimes scaring them off -- as
well as creating additional flames. Now in all fairness to the Gail
Michaels that I have come to know, she can be a very caring,
supportive person and has certainly been supportive to me despite the
fact that we disagree heartily on other issues. When this problem came
up again recently, we all felt that the issue should be dealt with as
an addendum to this page, but Gail felt that the FAQ as written by Sue
was not a fair representation of her theory. Regardless of whether we
agree with the theory, we all agreed that Gail deserved equal
representation. Therefore, we developed this page to try and provide
equal time for all sides involved. Please read this page. If you have
questions or concerns, please contact the individual by email.
However, I would also like to ask that you not contact Gail for the
point of flaming her or insulting her. She really does mean well, and
she is a good person. And please, keep discussion of this material off
of the newsgroup."

Thank you for your post and informing the newer people of what has
transpired in the past. Because I am certain of the theory, and have
received some positive posts by email, and even if none were received, I
would still continue to post on the groups if I think someone may benefit.
I cannot imagine why it would scare anyone off. There are enough posts to
offset mine, and for the persons that are able, I suggest they killfile me.
I am not trying to be difficult, but imagine (anyone) if they felt certain
of something they knew, regardless of popularity, would they not continue
The present post was exactly as I see the problem in nursing homes, and the
stronger I can present my case, the better I feel it will perhaps shake the
medical community. Anti-depressants are mind altering drugs, and in the
same class as marijuana and cocaine. They have a very good use, but a
very bad side effect which affects more people than one can realize.
So in closing, again I say Thank You for your post, Zumone, but I will
continue as I see fit or someone sends the strait jacket for me.
I could use the publicity. No question of the cause of crohns, there is
only ONE, and it is as I stated. That it is weird, strange, and
unimaginable for most I cannot help. Of course I understand that a doctor
cannot say to a patient, "Hey, your friend or relative is making you ill"
He would probably lose that patient. But aside from the medical
profession, some people can relate to the theory. What more can I say, I
cannot cease or tell anyone that has a better solution to cope with my
insistence to refrain from doing what is thought best.

As far as reporting me to abuse(a)aol. I have no objection. However I do
appear on a blog? on aol, that brings up articles I have written and even
some I have not written. By typing in my name Kureforcrohns and hit
search, you will reach the articles.
For those that have had enough of Gail and her writings, I suggest they
bypass the articles.
