From: Willy on 2 Aug 2008 14:53 I'd appreciate thoughts from those that might have had similar experiences, and from those of you who are lab savvy and /or professionals. On May 29, just after I was diagnosed diabetic and running glucose levels above 400, I had seriously elevated Microalbumin/creatinine levels - shockingly so. Now, two months later, with a pretty much completely controlled GC levels during the most recent month, my numbers have drastically improved, but are still out of range. Do I need to be concerned about my kidney health? Here's the numbers 5/29/08 7/29/08 Microalbumin 52.1 14.0 should be 0.0 - 1.9 Creatinine 154 147 Microalbumin/creatinine ratio 338.3 95.2 should be less than 30 How am I to interpret the very slight improvement in Creatinine levels. They're still VERY high. I haven't spoke with my Doctor since this most recent test, but he didn't seem overly concerned about the original numbers, so I will assume he will likely not be too concerned about these either. In the name of proactive health, I'd appreciate any thoughts. Willy

Two months, and an improving slope. Definitely worth discussing with your doc, but I'd wait a bit longer before drawing any conclusions. You're definitely doing the right things. Nicky. Can't give you any more information. Sorry Wendy

Creatinine clearance is a reading that can stay high if you are not fully hydrated when the test is taken.
