From: anon aka on 29 Sep 2008 04:19 http://www.nndb.com/lists/342/000069135/ I became interested in this today when I discovered that Waylon Jennings, my favorite country artist, died of diabetes complications. I didn't even know he was a diabetic.
From: Sugarcc on 29 Sep 2008 05:41 That is sad. The more things change the more they stay the same. My father was type 1. By the time I was old enough to pay attention he had scars on his arms and the tops of his thighs from the many injections with large needles that were used at the time to prevent clogging. He carried a kitchen matchbox, lined with cotton with a tiny bottle of alcohol saturated cotton balls, his insulin, a 'sample' Ball canning jar filled with sugar and a syringe. Insulin was so variable in strength that he never knew the reaction he would have from the same dose. His BG test was done in a test tube with a tablet dropped into the urine. I watched the color turn into a deep orange many times. My mother would give him a "look" that I learned meant that she knew he had 'sneeked' a Peanut Patty candy. My parents had 3 children. After my father's funeral we 3 were discussing our childhood and while we all agreed that my brother was mother's 'favorite' we each thought we were daddy's favorite. From: Mason on 29 Sep 2008 11:46 How about the guy nicknamed "rerun" from the sitcom "What's Happening"? Didn't he die from complications from diabetes?
