Life took away my little Squeaks, the one that seemed to be ding better, and left behind Chelseigh, who was condemned by the vet... Chelseigh seems okay, i.e. stable, and even a bit less swollen, and his beak more solid compared to all messed up as it was badly trimmed by the first vet. It still looks odd a bit, but is a beak he can use at least... Belami looses feathers like mad...Duvet small ones, but still. He also feels too light in my hands...I started to give him more pablum, but he can not really take more than his usual, as that makes him throw up, so...I try and add a seringe full (hand fed) when I am home, between his meals, when his tummy seems able to take it. He is otherwise okay, but this sudden loss of feathers and lighter weight bugs me. As for chelseigh, I went back to the same BRAND of the identical same seeds, thinking of nothing else that coudl have caused a change. Perhaps it is just coincidence, but he does seem better. I had already chamged back before Sqieaks died, but only two days prior, where she did not have time to adapt I gues. Still, I searched the net sine and discovered that budgies live in average 5-7 years. Squeaks lived here 7 years and 3 days, and was abot three weeks old when I had her, I was told at the pet shop. So she lived a nice life. So the vet that mader me feel bad because they woudl have lacked this or that viatmins/food just seemed to say anything about longevity for budgies, saying that seven was in fact `quite tyoung for a budgie`. WenI had asked her how long they could live, she had answered a vague Depends'. When I looked for advice on what to feed or how to help older budgies, a site said that if a budgie was over 5, then there was nothing the site owner could criticize about the feeding, since obviously a budgie of five had to have received great care and food. That much for the vet making me feel bad. So I now am consoled to think that I did not `cheat out`my old budgies, and that they too had a full life, like my cats and dogs and other pets. Makes me feel much better to know I did not neglect them in any way out of ignoring soemthign about diet or vitamins for budgies, even though I am no scienist on the subject.
